Governor McCrory Proclaims Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in North Carolina

On this holiday, Americans across the country are celebrating the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"Dr. King inspired us with his spirit and passion," said Governor Pat McCrory. "He touched the lives of millions of people. His message of respect, peace and justice still resonates strongly today. I hope the citizens of North Carolina will take some time to reflect on his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and give back to their communities."

The governor has proclaimed Monday as "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day" in North Carolina. To view the proclamation, click here. Service projects are being held across the state tomorrow in his honor.

Last Friday, Governor McCrory joined community leaders and members to commemorate Dr. King's life during the annual State Employees Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observance at First Baptist Church in Raleigh.
